A family was given a fright when they eagerly inspected their holiday photos and spotted what appears to be a ghost lurking in the background.
The spine-tingling photobomb was taken when the Islam family were enjoying a day out at Roundhay Park, near Leeds, West Yorks, over the Easter break.
Nurul Islam, 37, said his sister took the spooky photograph, which features his niece Mayrian Islam, 11, and nephew, nine-year-old Ryhan Kaliq.
When they looked back at the snap of the two kids posing in front of a folly built in 1812 by George Nettleton for the Nicholson family, they were shaken to see the frightening apparition.
Nurul said they were all shocked when they saw the image, which looks like it shows an adult wearing a cloak walking up the steps, arm outstretched.
“I don't even like watching scary films and I don't like looking at this photo, it's spooky, there was no one there,” he told local media. “My sister took the photograph and she saw it first, the castle isn't too old but who knows who lived there before”
According to Nurul, they were taking lots of pictures because people were standing on the steps and walking about so they waited for them to move on before they took a picture.
“We waited and waited for a clear point when no one was there as they wanted to hold their hands together. That's why we're sure there was no one there,” he said.
Nurul continued that he didn’t think anything of it and took a few more. Then when they got home and looked at the photos, they saw this thing at the back of it that wasn't there before.
“My sister said 'Oh my God it's a ghost'. I've started to think it might be. There was definitely no one there when I took the picture,” he added.
Meanwhile, the director of Leeds Civic Trust, Kevin Grady, stated that this was the first time ghoulish activity had been recorded at the site.
“Originally there was a wooden roof on top so there was an upper room which the Nicholson family would use,” said Dr. Grady. “The folly was used as a family house, a sewing room by the girls and they had social functions there.”
