This 18-year-old teen believes she has the longest tongue in the world, measuring a whopping 4 inches.
Adrianne Lewis is now globally recognized after a photo of her sticking her tongue out went viral online, her serpent-like appendage can touch her nose, chin, elbow, and even her eye with a little help.
She is currently in talks with Guinness World Records and waiting to see if she can break the record of Nick Stoeberl’s 3.9-inch long tongue.
“I feel as though I may have inherited it but I think with time and me sticking out my tongue a lot as a kid could have stretched it,” said Adrianne. “My mum, grandmother and my great grandfather all had very long tongues.”
Adrianne, from Twin Lake, Michigan always knew she had a long tongue but decided to submit herself to Ripley’s Believe It Or Not when she was 13-years-old.
“I didn’t think anything would happen because I sent in things to Guinness and was rejected three times,” she said. “A few days later I got an email saying, ‘your tongue is really cool, we’d like to see more.’”
“They said they’d like to feature me and I love Ripley’s so it was exciting to be in the books,” added Adrianne.
The teenager even created her own YouTube channel two years ago to showcase all of her amazing tricks.
“I started making more videos and it was basically about my tongue - I have 814 subscribers on my channel now,” she said. “Someone also posted my picture on I-Funny and I had a friend from Colorado text me and tell me he saw me on the site.”
While she receives lots of positive response online, she is also faced with inappropriate comments from internet trolls.
“I delete a lot of the bad comments and try to keep it as clean as possible,” said Adrianne. “People have accused me of editing my videos and have said that my tongue’s not real.”
Meanwhile, Adrianne’s boyfriend, Tim Hegedus, 19, is also bothered by the criticisms received by his girlfriend saying there are a lot of weird people on the Internet and he had seen some comments that are a little uncomfortable.
“If I could fight the internet, I would – but there’s not much I can do,” added Tim. “Just appreciate the person that’s attached to the tongue, that’s all I have to say.”
