High-Tech ID Tracks Employees’ Every Move At Work, Sends Details OfConversations And Even Times Their Toilet Breaks

This high-tech ID badge can track employees’ every move at work.

Electronics manufacturer Hitachi has revealed a high-tech ID badge called Business Microscope that tracks an employee's exact location within the office, sending their employer information on how long they spent out their seat, where in the building they went and even times their toilet breaks.

The device Business Microscope will find out which employees spend their days pointlessly wandering around the office gossiping to friends and even send an employer information on how much time each member of employees spent in the bathroom.

The Business Microscope will also record how actively they have contributed to group meetings, where a high level of eagerness and vibrancy can be a good thing.

Even though the device looks more like an ID badge, it actually contains complicated sensors that allow it to sync and interact with other Business Microscopes belonging to the company.

Based on Hitachi’s website that Business Microscope uses sensor technology to measure and analyze inner company communication and activities.

“Multiple sensor devices are placed inside a nameplate-type sensor that is attached to employees. When the name tag sensors come within a specific distance of each other, they recognize each other and record the face time, body and behavior rhythm data to a server,” Hitachi said.

According to Hitachi that the technology was designed to help improve efficiency levels in the workplace and to help employers realize and respond to problems that may otherwise have gone ignored.

Additionally, Hitachi hopes it will help boost employee cooperation, leading to a better environment.

The Business Microscope is the first surveillance device to be marketed towards employers for use in the workplace.

Several companies already apply 'internet monitoring' software that scans sent and received emails, as well as monitoring the websites they visit over the course of the working day.

These systems automatically send alerts straight to the employer when company rules are believed to have been broken.
