Japanese guy earns ¥1 million for role-playing online world of fantasy game ArcheAge, 12 hours a day for 3 months.
Moru-Chan, a long-time game enthusiast, was chosen by the development team of Japanese MMO ArcheAge to be the receiver of ¥1 million or $10,000 check for spending three whole months enclosed in a one-room apartment granted by the company playing the video game and streaming it to Japanese video-sharing site Niconico.
Moru-chan has done competitive gaming at a world-class level, making him a well-qualified preference for this job. He spends all night in front of the computer, playing the game, and his days sleeping on a mattress on the floor, cooking in his very small kitchenette and doing the laundry.
The very limited opportunities to leave the house and get some fresh air for three months would make most people believe the arrangement is frightening, however it’s actually a dream come true for Moru-chan and lots of other gamers who share his passion.
Moru-chan enjoys being isolated from the world, the conversations he has with players replying to comments on Niconico and interacting with users on his blog allows him to sustain a relationship with like-minded people.
Moru-chan’s love life has not been affected at all because his wife is apparently very supportive of his extreme lifestyle.
Here is Moru-chan’s daily schedule:
12:00 p.m. (noon) - Wake up, Bathe, Eat, and Do Laundry
3:00 p.m. - Play Games
4:00 p.m. - Update Personal Blog
6: 00 p.m. - Eat
7:00 p.m. - Play Games
9:00 p.m. - Begin Streaming Online Gameplay
6: 00 a.m. - Go to Bed
Rinse and Repeat.
