An adorable 11-month-old red Tibetan mastiff has become the world's most expensive dog after being purchased in China for 10 million Yuan ($1.5 million).
If you want to own a dog, I would suggest you choose the Tibetan Mastiff breed. Because in this breed, came the world's most expensive dog named "Big Splash" or "Hong Dong" in Chinese. This dog was sold for a stunning $1.5 million to a multimillionaire coal baron from China.
Big Splash is an 11-month-old red Tibetan Mastiff that stands nearly 3 feet high and weighs more than 180lbs. According to Lu Liang, former owner of the dog, Big Splash is a "perfect specimen." He had been fed a diet of chicken and beef, spiced up with exotic Chinese delicacies such as sea cucumber and abalone.
In the old age, Tibetan Mastiff also known as dokhyi (door guard) was used as guardian of herds, villages and palaces because of its huge size. The male dog weights up to 41 to 59 kilograms and females ranges from 32 to 50 kilograms.
They can reach up to 4 feet in height. They are not a giant breed but people looks that way because they have a big head, heavy coat and sometimes they were mistaken as lions. Chinese have recognized them as a status symbol.
When it comes to its behavior, this kind of dogs are "aloof to strangers." They are not dangerous and aggressive but they are very protective. Mastiffs are independent, free-thinking and extremely intelligent breed.
