Yes, he is the tallest man in the world declared by the Guinness World of Records.
Sultan Kosen holds the world record for tallest man alive at 251 centimeters or 8 feet 3 inches when measured by Guinness World Records on August of 2009. He took the title from Bao Xishun of Inner Mongolia, China with a height of 236 centimeters or 7 feet 8 inches.
Kosen was born in Mardin, Turkey on December 10, 1982. He lives with his parents and siblings who are all normal-sized. The reason of his growth is from a tumor which caused too much growth hormone to be released from his pituitary gland.
He was unable to finish his schooling due to his extreme height but works as a farmer to support his family. He claims to enjoy a normal lifestyle and describes the advantages of being tall as seeing a great distance and being able to help his family with domestic tasks. However, he has a hard time finding clothes and shoes that can fit on him or fit into an average-sized car.

In 2010, Kosen received a treatment for his pituitary tumor called Gamma Knife at the University of Virginia Medical School. But the full effect of the treatment takes up to two years.
By 2011, his hormone levels were almost normal and it was confirmed in March 2012 that the treatment had been effective in halting Kosen’s growth.
