This dog miraculously survives 300 foot fall from Britain’s highest cliff after chasing birds.
A Collie named Iggy unbelievably survived a 300 foot fall in one of the Britain’s Highest Cliffs while chasing seagulls, but escaped with just a slight limp.
Claire Morris and her husband Mark Russell thought Iggy would not survive the fall at Beachy Head in East Sussex, England.
As they were walking with their dog, he chased seagulls and he accidentally went over the edge of the cliff as they watch horrified and helpless to stop the fall. Iggy is the 11th dog to fall off the coastline at the dangerous spot, and the first to survive since 2010.
“It was horrible. We got on our bellies and began peering over the cliff edge, slowly shuffling along fully expecting to see a body below. Then we just spotted this teeny tiny little spot walking around,” said Claire.
She quickly called for help and Newhaven’s RNLI lifeboat crew found Iggy at the bottom of the cliff. Iggy was frightened but his only injury was a limp.
“It was high tide. I have no idea how he survived. He must have landed in the water in just the right place and at the right angle,” she added.
The couple described the incident as like a scene from cartoon Tom and Jerry, when Iggy hovered over the edge then vanished.
He was now reunited with Claire and Mark who were very grateful for the lifeboat crew’s efforts.
“The Newhaven lifeboat crew are truly amazing. Hats off to all these volunteers for doing a fabulous service and truly making a difference,” said Claire.
